DREADBOOK: DREADNOUGHTERS On Facebook II - Join The Conversation
:: Welcome ::
On the heels of a front-page interview in the National Catholic Register, DREADNOUGHT was linked from a New York Times site, and recommended in a Slate.com forum. This activity coincided with the hugely successful U.S. Papal Visit, an event that saw a spike in related search terms ("pope" + "gay", etc.) and first time visitors. Welcome!

New visitors also swelled the ranks of the DREADNOUGHTERS Facebook group, which passed 100 members. Recent discussion topics there, some started by new DREADNOUGHTERS, have included:

- A DREADNOUGHTER asks: "Does anyone else have a problem reconciling their 'sexual orientation'^ with their religion?"
Are there fewer SSA women than SSA men?
- A DREADNOUGHTER asks: "Do men have a greater tendency towards SSA than women?"
Does anyone march for Pride anymore?
- Do DREADNOUGHTERS know of (official/unofficial) Catholic groups that participate in 'gay Pride' events? How can they justify that participation? Do DREADNOUGHTERS go? What offends religious people, especially Catholics? Would DREADNOUGHTERS take family members, or let children watch 'Pride marches' on the television?
Should religious (esp. Catholic) organisations be permitted to discriminate against 'gay' employees?
- In some places, the Catholic Church (and other organisations) request (and, often, receive) exemption from so-called anti-discrimination rules (in the case of the Church, it is almost always as the laws apply to 'sexual orientation', however defined). What do DREADNOUGHTERS think of this? Have DREADNOUGHTERS (or someone they know) ever experienced anything like this? Should anti-discrimination laws cover 'sexual orientation' alongside race, gender, etc.?
Is there a 'gay gene'?
- What kind of impact would the discovery have on the Catholic teaching on human sexuality?
:: Old School ::
Other modes of communication have opened up. One long-time DREADNOUGHTER (in Pasadena, CA) was asked by an NCR (print version) reader, "a fifty-something-year-old married woman...[visiting from Michigan]", if he'd heard of DREADNOUGHT. The encounter occurred in his local church.
